Enhanced Top Coat

TQ Rend Enhanced Top Coat is a British Board of Agreement (BBA) approved, high-performance, cement-based, polymer-modified, through-coloured render. Applied by spray or hand, it is designed to be used as the finishing coat in conjunction with the TQ Enhanced Fibre Base Coat. The system provides a durable, breathable, and low-maintenance exterior surface with excellent adhesion and workability. Enhanced Top Coat can also be finished with a sponge float around window reveals and other detailed areas to achieve a uniform, refined texture. It’s through-coloured formulation ensures a consistent, long-lasting finish available in a range of colours, combining durability with lasting visual appeal.

APPLICATION Instructions

TQ Rend Enhanced Top Coat should be applied onto the cured Enhanced Fibre Base Coat once it has achieved adequate drying and stability. The substrate must be clean, sound, and free from contaminants. The Top Coat should be applied by spray machine or by hand using a stainless-steel trowel to a uniform thickness of 6–10 mm, depending on specification and substrate requirements. While the material is still plastic, dashing aggregates should be evenly applied to the surface to achieve the desired textured finish. The Top Coat is not intended to be trowelled smooth but may be lightly finished with a sponge float around window reveals and detailed areas to ensure a consistent finish.

PRIMING

For applications to highly absorbent substrates, use SBR Admixture sealer and Primer. Effective control of substrate suction is critical to promote even drying, uniform colour development, and optimal render performance.

MIXING

Mix 25 kg of TQ Rend Enhanced Fibre Basecoat with approximately 4 – 5 litres of clean water. Using a slow-speed paddle mixer (400–600 rpm), blend for approximately 2 minutes until a smooth, homogeneous consistency is achieved. Allow the mix to stand for 2 minutes to promote full activation of additives and polymers, then remix briefly before application to restore workability. Avoid high-speed mixing, as this may introduce air and adversely affect the performance and finish of the render.

Coverage Rates

Approximately 1.8 – 2.5m2 per 25kg bag to achieve an applied thickness of 6-10mm

APPLICATION Instructions

Enhanced Fibre Base Coat must be applied by hand or spray in a single coat as a backing for TQ Rend finishing coats. The recommended application thickness is 6–8 mm. Apply the material evenly to the substrate and trowel to a flat, uniform finish. For subsequent coats, lightly comb the surface horizontally to create a mechanical key. Allow a minimum of 24 hours drying time before overcoating. Avoid overworking during application to maintain optimum adhesion and performance.
