Celebrating 35 Years of Dedication – Jimmy McDougall Retires

On Friday 11th July, we marked the retirement of Jimmy McDougall, bringing to a close a remarkable 35-year career in the quarrying industry.

Jimmy began his journey on 9th April 1990 at Straiton Quarry at Wormit, working for the Fife Sand and Gravel Company. It wasn’t long before he became responsible for the maintenance and running of the processing plant, as well as managing a small dry screening operation at St Michaels Quarry in Leuchars.

After 12 years at Straiton, Jimmy transferred to Collessie Quarry in Ladybank in 2002 as Assistant Manager for 18 years.

In December 2020, following Tillicoultry Quarries’ acquisition of Collessie, Jimmy was promoted to Quarry Manager. His deep industry knowledge and strong people skills helped him drive forward many operational improvements and capital projects, strengthening Collessie Quarry.

Phil Kerr, Director, comments;

Jimmy’s dedication, professionalism, and steady leadership have made him an invaluable member of the team – not just at Collessie, but across the business. He has been a mentor to many, and his positive impact will be felt for years to come. He will be greatly missed by colleagues and friends across the industry, and we are proud to celebrate his career and contribution.

On behalf of everyone at Tillicoultry Quarries, thank you, Jimmy, for your outstanding service. We wish you a long, healthy, and well-earned retirement.
